(More customer reviews)I had previously used the FP-100C 4x5 instant print film for my view camera and had been impressed with the detail and color quality.After all, how much better could it get for instant film?Well guess what?The FP-100B 4x5 is absolutely fantastic.There is about twice the quality of detail, the blacks are black and the highlights are white (unlike the color equivalent which has a color cast to it).I really like the tonal range as well - very broad and smooth transitions between gradations.I typically use instant film to either take a picture and hand it to someone or to check for exposure.Well I thought both myself and my subjects would prefer the color version, but we are both more impressed by the black and white version - primarily because of the detail in the image.As for checking exposure, it is much easier to the eye to check for proper exposure when it is only shades of gray.You can transition it directly to B&W or Color film directly and it appears to be accurate for the timed exposures using an incident meter.
A great product that is highly recommended.You would think that the B&W instant film would be a fair amount cheaper than the color, but given the quality and results I'll stick with the FP-100B even if its about the same price as the color version.
